how to style the sezane will jacket

the jacket for all seasons

luckily, my partnership with Sézane continues I decided to go with the Sézane will jacket #gifted that i’ve been eyeing for a while now and it comes in so many colors to choose from! i wasn’t sure how it would look on me due to length. turns out, i had nothing to worry about 🙂 it reminds me of a utility jacket but more sleek and structured. BTW, the utility jacket is my go-to travel jacket. i take it on every. single. trip. with me because honestly, it goes with EVERYTHING and it has functional pockets. i was hoping the will jacket would do the same in a more elevated way and it did not disappoint. the pockets are very deep and i love how the material keeps its structure since it is denim-like.

here, i decided to style it a couple of different ways. it’s all about versatility #amirite! i’ve always wanted to belt something like this and i love how it turned out. you can layer it (even over a dress which i have always wanted to try), belt it, and wear it as a top itself like a button down. you can dress it up and you can dress it down. check out all four looks after the jump!

side ramblings: 2024. it’s been a slowwww start here full of self-care. i’ve been enjoying spending time at home working on my paint-by-numbers, upgrading the home office, reading, playing mah jong, watching Modern Family with my parents, going down reddit thread rabbit holes about mechanical keyboards (new hobby) and trader joes (of course). it’s been a grand time!

invites + on the radar //

  • with this timely post, Sézane’s Austin pop-up opens on Friday, 03/08 at 1011 S. • i was invited into The Guest House // @welcometgh earlier this week and i gotta say, it was an AMAZING experience 💯 i loved all. the. dishes., the service, and the ambiance was 110% swanky. i’ll be returning soon! dishes ordered: complimentary brioche (OMG LAYERED GOODNESS), steak tartare, traditional caviar service, parmesean truffle crusted filet, miso mushrooms, the garden dessert (a must), and the tres leches x tiramisu dessert! they will be opening the take away section soon (and i hope they have that brioche available!) and the little outdoor wine garden! so happy to see this space filled on 2nd street!

monochrome

monochrome for the win.

as much as i love outfits that coordinate with different color schemes, i am a big fan of monochrome. it’s like a subtle fashion statement that takes no time to put together because you’re literally just following one color. or it’s also fun to do various hues of the same shade! here i went went with two styles — workwear in the prettiest hunter green & casual style in all white (absolutely yes, please wear all-white after labor day!). while there’s still uncertainly of us returning to work, i still love looking and purchasing workwear, if anything, these two make some good WFH tops! no worries, we won’t judge on the bottoms or lack of haha.

side ramblings: lemme tell you how taking photos with a tripod is going… it’s interesting! LOL. again, it’s one of those things that looks easy, but dang, it ain’t. it’s actually VERY time consuming and not to mention it looks QUITE SILLY && even more un-natural than someone taking your photos. but i’m gonna keep at it! the @sephora beauty event kicks off later this week and i can’t wait!! why yes, i do have my cart prepped and ready to go 😁 it’s the best time to stock up on your fave skincare brands or try something new! lastly, @senreve launched the Alunna and she’s a beauty isn’t she?!

the tie neck blouse & white denim jeans

hello december, howdy #birthdaymonth!

i will warn you that this post will be picture heavy if you click on the read more button. why? oh, because i’m in an empty fountain having a ball! thanks to my photographer, Steven who also helped me get into it. :D i digress. let’s have a small chat about these white denim jeans sent to me from Everlane, shall we? let’s just say they made me give away my other white denim jeans. the fit, the not having to worry if my jeans are see-thru are out the window with these. on top of that, they are a 10.5” rise so a little below my belly button for the #over30club. y’all know i’m a fan of all things @everlane and this ENTIRE OUTFIT is no exception. i know they worked hard to make some non-see thru white denim, so kudos to Everlane! this is my second silk top from @everlane. and lemme tell you, i have wanted this top for a while #meloveyoulongtime. i am so happy my rep sent it to me!! it’s more of a boxy fit and short so easy to do a half tuck in front (as shown here). i love the mock neck #duh and after the jump you can see how i tied/styled the sashes different ways!

side ramblings: WHOO HOOO!! here we go, last month of 2019, i can’t even believe it. not sure where time or 2019 went… the JD x @phlur sip + shop holiday party is happening this weekend already!! click here to RSVP for Saturday, 12/07/2019 from 3-5PM & come by and say HOWDY! thanksgiving was a complete BLAST. spent quality time with family, ate a ton, shopped, did a couple of @meganroup’s // @thesculptsociety cardio dance work out videos with my cousins and made sure to capture some of those shenanigans (under IG highlights “misc”) #goodtimes. december also kicks off… #birthdaymonth and so this and next week are filled with festivities and extra #treatmyself activities in prep for the big 3-5. :)

the white denim dress

saying goodbye to summer fashion!

i couldn’t be happier to enter the season of fashion i love most, FALL! i think this might be my first denim dress. i’ve wanted one for a while but had the hardest time finding a style i liked. this one was very different and like an apron style. it’s an “open” dress and you literally wrap it on you and button it from the inside and outside if that makes sense. i’ve been a fan of the square neckline so this fit the bill! and the denim is actually hefty and not thin so A+ in my books. and.. y’all. it. has. pockets! it’s great for any kind of brunch or day-date outing. style it casually with an everyday tote and some casual style heels. PS—these are actually SUPA comfy and really light!

side happenings: @everlane is having pop-ins at @nordstrom!! at the bottom is a list of stores who will have the pop-in in-store. gah, y’all know my love for everlane is real (deep). pop-ins are great if you’re not sure on sizing or want to feel/see the items in person. need recs?! I GOT CHU!!! for the women’s picks i included items i actually own and have worn myself that will be featured at Nordstrom. i also included some men’s picks too :)
women | the day heel pump // the wide leg crop pants // the authentic stretch high rise skinny jeans // the cashmere turtleneck sweater dress (don’t own this one but may have to one day!)
men | the uniform bomber jacket // the waffle knit long sleeve henley // the modern flannel shirt

the summer leopard print midi skirt

summertime leopard.

when you find the BEST lighting everything else is effortless. it’s all about the lighting!

there is no lie. i’m a total skirt gal. i will admit that my skirt collection is a little insane. i own more skirts than i do pants & jeans combined! haha, and let’s not even get into how many pleated midi skirts i have #gulp. usually i associate animal print with more of a fall trend but when i came across this skirt it was summertime appropriate being blush and the leopard print is actually very subtle. into the basket it went. lately i’ve taken a liking to the pull on bias midi style, this one is a zipper closure but remains timeless. the material is a little thin and you can see the liner through it but doesn’t bother me. i styled it here with my fave tee for an everyday casual wear. the skirt is TTS, and actually high waisted so great parings for crop tops as well.

lastly, the utility jacket is probably my most worn jacket. great for when i (might) need a light layer and have no time to think about what i’m grabbing when i walk out the door. the best part is the pockets and so it’s my must have when i travel (and my movie jacket, haha, you have one don’t you!?). style tip: try a cognac waist belt on top of the jacket! what do ya think? with jacket or without?

#nsale: the. @nordstrom. sale gets its own little section. i wasn’t super impressed this year and everything sold out REAL FAST. currently only open to cardholders until 07/18 and everyone else on 07/19-08/04. everything goes back to regular price on 08/05. i’m sure they will restock but here are my slim-picking-picks with TOP 5 to make it easy: RAILS collins military jacket // FRAME le high waist skinny jeans // Caslon camo utility jacket // TOPSHOP funnel neck top // BP lace trim cami

side ramblings: thanks for all the well-wishes! last week was pretty low-key and i ended up having to decline a few events. taking it easy on food when really all i wanna eat is… like. everything. shamu-appetite is on pause for now. i finally watched To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and for being a teen novel it was actually way too cute and i unexpectedly enjoyed it more than Always Be My Maybe! Lara J actually reminds me of myself in some ways :D lastly, @senreve is offering a pretty BIG gift with purchase worth mentioning: a complimentary Senreve bracelet pouch (valued at $145) if you spend over $500 and a complimentary Senreve envelope clutch (valued at $245) if you spend over $1,100. you can read more & see how i’ve styled my favorite bag from them — the mini maestra here. definitely a great time to pick up a bag if you were debating it & you should do a happy dance in your seat because i’m giving you my referral link to receive $50 off your purchase (and i get $50 so we all are winning) #shamelessadvertising

everyday essentials with everlane

taking it back to everyday basics.

lemme tell you (if you already don’t know): i’m a HUGE @everlane fan. i am very lucky to partner with the brand and i genuinely love their clothes, shoes, jeans that i buy a ton of it! last xmas i bought all my GFs my fave everlane tee. and guess what? they make a line for MEN too! just GREAT basics for everyday practical wear. and what’s even better is it’s an ethical clothing brand that uses ethical factories AND their pricing is transparent! at the bottom of each product they break down the pricing for you from materials to labor to product transport. it’s crazy awesome. and as a consumer, you’re more educated and more likely to purchase IMO.

anyways, let’s talk about da pantaloons. yep, i’m stepping up my pant game this year for sure. while i have the wide leg cropped pants i wanted to give the straight leg cropped pants a try and my girl hooked me up, LOVE EM. they are high rise, up to my belly button which makes it easy on the food baby. they come in multiple colors and lengths — i would size down on these since they stretch and the ankle length is perfect for the #shortgirlproblems. i chose to pair it with a gingham button down tied into a fun knot in front. but a tee or cami half tucked in front works too! i’m also wearing the square day tote (new) which is super buttery and a great size for everyday use and keeps its form/shape. i especially like the saddle color. it also has one side compartment but otherwise open like all totes. more on Everlane after the jump for those who want to read about what to try, i got CHU!

side ramblings: check out ya girl working one of her side hustles!! haha, i love it, my friend actually found me and sent it to me, SO crazy COOL! last week i was able to get a @drbarbarsturm facial at @goop! (bye goop, ATX loved ya!). holy heck, i walked away with the hyaluronic serum, one of her best selling products. it’s gobs of money (trust me my heart is still doing palpitations) but i wanted to see the hype for myself. it’s the most i’ve ever spent on one skincare product. but hey, i’m all for paying more on a quality product, especially if it works. i’m hoping i’ll stretch this one out close to year. more skincare talk but the @sephora sale is in full force for rouge members. shamelessly i am one but kept it low key this year due to all the recent goop skincare purchases. i limited myself to the beloved Tatcha pure one step camellia cleansing oil // Caudalie SOS vinosouce thirst quenching serum (HG) // trying out the Drunk Elephant TLC sukari babyfacial // trying out the BIOSSANCE pro-biotic gel moisturizer. well, at least i think that’s low key. eep. it’s clear i spend too much money on skincare. but i’d rather do that than makeup. so it’s justified. :D

if you’re unsure of where to start with @everlane, go with the cotton v-neck. i admittedly own this one in multiple colors. then i’d try their denim for $68-78 you can’t go wrong. i’ve personally bought the cheeky straight jean styled here // the authentic stretch high rise skinny // and the kick crop jeans styled here. they’re all perfect fits with the ankle length (no hemming needed because ain’t nobody got time for that). they just released the summer jean today and you can be sure it’s sitting in my cart haha! the shoes are amazing quality that are MADE IN ITALY! lemme tell you, italians know how to make shoes. i own the boss boots // the day heel // the v-slingback // the wedge (NEW and obsessed). lastly, Everlane does HAPPY RETURNS, which totally makes me happy. instead of returning stuff via mail and waiting for a refund you just find a happy return center and they process and package your return for you. it’s the little things y’all. okay this is lastly lastly but Everlane is constantly has new releases which is so great but not so great on the wallet. haha and yes, it sounds like i work for them but i don’t. :D

here are some personal things i’m eyeing at Everlane in case they strike your fancy too:

the tuxedo dress

one dress. two ways.

last year i took a poll on my IG regarding the tuxedo dress. everyone voted a hard NO. well, you know me… i had to try it for myself. i’ve always been drawn to it due to the very powerful statement it makes. it isn’t for the faint of heart but have no fear i got chu! here’s a couple of reasons why you should wear this tuxedo dress: A) you can wear it casually!, B) you’ll look better than your man, C) you will surely turn heads or have people doing double-takes on ya, D) you don’t have to wear a strapless bra (and i say that is a huge win). when i saw that @MaggyLondon came out with the Toni tuxedo dress, my gal immediately sent me one (she’s such a doll)! as we were chatting she told me that it actually goes on as a coat almost so #lightbulb i figured i would style it two ways (plus, these are my favorite kinds of creative posts)!

first, of course, i chose to wear the tuxedo dress as itself. GAH, what a statement and tons of compliments strolling on south congress haha. for the second look i went casual style as a statement layering piece or even a COAT to get you to-and-from. we always want versatile items like this in our closet, it makes the price per wear even betta! for casual style i went with my new @everlane cheeky jeans (they are AMAZING y’all) in a high waisted, straight fit (skinny jeans also work), light wash paired with a lace satin cami (half tuck) to balance this look out. as you can see, it drapes and flows very nicely. for shoes, no matter which way you wear it, you want to avoid anything clunky/chunky, go for a streamlined strappy stiletto heel instead or even a pointed toe pump. warning: you will be photo bombed if you hit the read more button. but it was a fun one!
