the amazon lounge sets

all. about. the. #loungesets

lately, i’ve been on am amazon streak! esp with athletic and loungewear sets. this post is dedicated to THREE comfy sets with shorts (ALL WITH POCKETS! yes, in caps because. IYKYK) that are good for lounging in at home or running errands around town. shorts are usually a safer bet for me than sets with pants since, well… #shortgirlproblems at 5’2”. i was shocked how much i loved these sets. the great news is that they range differences in warmth coverage, so great for the whacky Texas weather! in this post i’m sharing three lounge sets i purchased from Amazon and love. all sets will transition you from winter to spring and summer because got chu! 🙌 see set 2 & 3 after the jump.

side ramblings: this year i want to commit to more reading. yep, like actual books. i used to be a huge bookworm and over the years i’ve gotten so caught up in media and all.things.electronic. it’s part of the job but i just finished my first book of the year, Every Summer After by Carley Fortune. it was a cute book, 7/10 rating for me. it makes me wonder what it would be like to fall in love at such a young age and with someone you grew up with who really really knows you. i miss getting lost in a book, being drawn in my interesting characters and/or storylines. anyways, i’m hoping to reach a goal of 12 books in 2023 & linking my next read below!

currently reading: book lovers by Emily Henry (about to finish this one already!!)

currently on my playlist: best part by Daniel Ceasar ft. H.E.R.

athleisure set with a hoodie

the luxe two-piece.

there aren’t may hoodies left in my wardrobe these days but sometimes a hoodie is absolutely necessary. especially when you’re needing to go somewhere real quick and you just. washed. your. hair. it’s probably a mental thing but a hoodie gives some “clean coverage” esp during cedar season when pollen is everywhere and getting pollen in clean hair is just… unthinkable. i was looking for a level-ed up two piece set besides sweats/cuffed joggers and this one fit the bill. it’s made of nylon & spandex so it has a nice luxe feel too it and i like how the pants are a little jazzed up with the seam infront. good travel outfit. whenever traveling is in again.

other little details include: the plastic zippered pockets in the back & one infront = comfy yet able to secure small items and the hoodie has a high-low hem and slits on the side making it a unique enough piece. and it has… THUMBHOLES! haha. i love thumbholes for reasons i can’t explain. (also purchased the coaster luxe sweatshirt in the same transaction with thumbholes, so soft!! reviews says it pills so i’ll see). the drawstring on the hoodie adds a relaxed casual vibe despite it being a luxe set. my only complaint was that the abalone grey color on the website has a slight pink hue to it. IRL it’s actually a muted grey-beige. not the best color for my skintone (it looks like my wall now that i’m looking at the photos LOL) but returns are such a hassle these days so i kept it.

side ramblings: december is already flying by. next week is #birthdayweek! it feels weird since most of my decembers are spent #nomnomnom-ing at all the restaurants with family & friends and treating myself to all the misc things. it’ll be low-key as heck over here but next year i think i’m taking a trip somewhere. my friends are already making me feel so spoiled & loved by sending me my fave @maggielouseconfections chocolates & introduced me to this bougie gadget 😁 goodbye lukewarm coffee!

the smocked two piece set

the two piece life.

don’t get me wrong, i love a good one piece. but i ALSO love a good two piece. oh why you say? because it takes the thinking out of matching a top and bottom when you wear the two together, and you can also wear them as separates! that’s #winning in my opinion. smocked details have been all the rage lately and it’s an intimidating textured fabric. oh why you say? because it really HUGS you. everywhere. this is actually one that’s out of my comfort zone because rarely will you see me wearing anything this fitted OR short. BUT this two piece is actually covering a lot in fashion — it’s two pieces, smocked, 3/4 ruched sleeves (that I actually took down to wear as an off the shoulder, see sixth picture), and the skirt has a tiered ruffle hem too. i love ALL the above. it was a windy as heck day (just my luck) so on top of being uncomfortable, Steven mentioned that i have some pretty good stoic faces. he always encourages me to do different things and tries to bring the “model” out in me haha. either way, as you can tell, it was a blast. with people laughing at me as well. of course. lastly, you do need the bag. it sold out pretty quickly but back with a rainbow tassel now that is also removable. i say it’s a good Clare V alice dupe for WAY cheaper.

side ramblings: let’s see… it’s been a while. but oh ya girl was offered a side “modeling” gig for some local Austin brands!! say whaaaa?! haha. i know, i’m pretty dang lucky though. honestly, the easiest money i’ve made and it was so chill and fun (that’s all that matters). i thought to myself, “dang janna, you get to do a lot of pretty cool things.” life is good. OH, i chopped my hair with my gal @elizabeth.jane.hair. by chopped i mean 3” which is the equivalent to feeling like 6” on a person who has #longhairprobs. diggin’ the new do tho! also, i tried a hot stone massage!! i was always intimidated by them, but the stones don’t actually sit on you (as the photos always depict), the masseuse uses it while they’re massaging you. needless to say i’ll be getting this add-on every time i go to @massagesway! use code “JANNA20” to receive 20% off. and ask for my guy James!! he da man. lastly, the @rachelparcell x @nordstrom collection launched last week! while the collection features more dressy pieces i managed to pick up a casual ruffle dress that sold out within a few hours. will show y’all soon! xx

the lilly pulitzer two piece

the two piece life.

recently, i had some interesting conversations about the romper from a male perspective. while i think they are a fun summer piece, i agree on the non-practical-ness of it, especially when you have to use the restroom. compared to jumpsuits, rompers tend to fit weird. so... enter the two piece.

as you may know, color is not my go-to. for years i've seen so many GFs wear Lilly Pulitzer and it always looks good on them. me... not so much. until i found this! this is actually my first LP piece, or should i say two piece? ha. either way, i am a fan of the two piece life. like a romper, it takes the guessing out of which top or bottom to wear. in addition the material of this two piece is made of scuba, which is one of my favorite materials. the key is tasteful. a tasteful two piece is one that has a high-waisted bottom (um, hello this one has a cute ruffle detail on the shorts!) to show just a tiny bit of midriff. also, the likelihood of a two piece fitting better than a one piece is much much higher and way more practical.

side happenings: met with the coolest chicks/brand last week @everlane which produces ethical clothing. they have an awesome slogan: know your factories. know your costs. always ask why. i cannot wait to work with them! the Nordstrom sale is still going strong, check out my latest post of tips & picks. as always, thanks for stopping by!
